Terms for using Koste, its site, and its app

These Terms and Conditions apply to the Koste marketing site at koste.app, the Koste iPhone app, and related support surfaces we operate. By using the site or app, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use Koste on an iPhone downloaded through the App Store, Apple's platform terms and device rules also apply to your use of the app.

Koste is offered for lawful, personal use. You may browse the landing page, contact us, import recipe content into the app, organize your collection, sync through your Apple account, and export your own data.

• do not use the contact form for spam, abuse, or unlawful material
• do not attempt to reverse engineer or copy restricted parts of the service except where applicable law permits it

You keep ownership of the recipes, notes, photos, pasted text, imported links, and other materials you add to Koste. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use and import that content.

You are also responsible for reviewing imported material before relying on it. Koste may suggest titles or tags and may display metadata from third-party pages, but you remain responsible for the accuracy, legality, and appropriateness of what you save or share.

Koste depends on third-party platforms for some functionality. Examples in the current product include Apple's App Store, iCloud/CloudKit sync, Apple notification systems, websites you choose to import from, TikTok's oEmbed endpoint for some social link previews, and archive imports from services such as Paprika and Mela.

Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party content, third-party outages, or actions taken by those providers after you leave Koste or deliberately connect to them through the app.

We may update, improve, limit, or discontinue parts of the site or app at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, permanent support for every import source, or error-free sync across all devices and network conditions.

We may suspend or restrict access if we believe use is abusive, unlawful, harmful to the service, or creates security risk. We may also remove or refuse contact submissions that appear to be spam or automated misuse.

Koste includes export features and may support Apple-based sync, but it is not a guaranteed backup or archival service. You are responsible for deciding how much you rely on the app for storage and whether to keep your own backup copies of important content.

We are not responsible for loss of content caused by device issues, Apple account or iCloud problems, user actions, deleted imports, unsupported third-party changes, or service interruptions outside our reasonable control. Before large imports, exports, or major cleanup actions, use the available export tools if the data matters to you.

Koste may introduce paid features, subscriptions, one-time purchases, or other commercial offerings in the future. If that happens, the applicable pricing, billing terms, renewal details, cancellation rules, and any feature-specific conditions will be presented to you before you are charged.

Unless we expressly state otherwise, adding a paid offering in the future does not by itself create a promise that any current free feature will remain unchanged forever. Continued use of Koste after a commercial change will remain subject to these general terms together with any additional terms that apply to the paid offering.

Koste is an organization and decision-support tool. It is not a medical, nutritional, allergen, or food-safety service. Timer reminders, suggested recipe names, tags, and imported content are convenience features only.

You are responsible for checking ingredients, temperatures, cook times, dietary suitability, allergens, and food safety before preparing or serving anything. If a recipe or imported source conflicts with professional advice or common-sense kitchen safety, follow the safer option.

The Koste name, branding, site copy, design, and software are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership of our product, brand, or code to you.

Except as allowed by law, do not copy, resell, publicly distribute, or create derivative commercial products from the service itself without permission. This restriction does not apply to your own recipe collection or exports that you created or lawfully control.

To the extent permitted by law, Koste is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not promise that the service will always be available, secure, accurate, or suitable for every purpose.

To the extent permitted by law, Koste will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity arising from your use of the site or app. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

To the extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to Koste or these terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for Koste in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you did not pay anything for Koste during that period, our aggregate liability will be limited to the minimum amount required by applicable law.

Unless mandatory law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise, these terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Before starting a formal claim, you agree to first contact us through the Koste website and provide a short written description of the issue. Both sides will then have 30 days to try to resolve the matter informally.

Unless mandatory law provides a different forum, disputes arising out of or relating to Koste or these terms will be resolved in the competent courts of the Republic of Latvia.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Our failure to enforce any part of these terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. These terms, together with any additional terms presented for specific features, form the entire agreement between you and Koste regarding the service.

We may revise these terms as the product, website, or legal obligations change. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page and post the revised version here.

By continuing to use Koste after revised terms take effect, you agree to the updated version. If you do not agree with the revised terms, stop using the service.
